This animal is extremely weak and easily killed.
They will not attack and they give no experience but are a source of food. They tend to live in flocks on farms or close to
the cities, so if you see one, look for more appearing on your screen.

Rat |

0-5gp, Cheese
This is the easiest to kill of the animals that
give experience. It is the first monster you will encounter on Rookgaard. Individually they are easy to kill with almost any
skills and equipment. However, if you are attacked by several you will be surrounded and killed unless you have the proper
equipment. It is a good training animal for newbies and a good source of loot. Although each rat only contains a small amount
of gold it quickly builds up to enough to allow the novice player to buy his first set of proper equipment. Rats are usually
found in the sewers and caves under the cities of Rookgaard.

The Snake is a weak monster. However, most of the time
they will poison you during the attack, if they can get to you! If you become poisoned you will lose a few hitpoints every
second. It stops after about 15 hp. There are 4 ways to be healed of a poison attack:
1. Ask the priest (Cipfried,
Quentin) in the local Temple or Church to heal you. 2. Use an antidote rune on yourself (if you have one) or ask another
player to use an antidote rune on you. If you cannot immediately do any of these things, use life fluids, or runes,
or eat food to heal yourself until you can find help, or you survive the poison.

Cave Rat |

Cheese, Gold Jackets, ?
Cave rats are bigger, stronger and harder then
normal rats. So beware if you fight against them as new Player, especially if you meet a group. A good tactic is to stand
in a narrow passage so that the cave rats can only attack one or two at a time.

Spider |

0-4gp
Spiders are found in the forests and dungeons of
Tibia. A spider is a good training animal for newbies. Slightly stronger that the rat, this animal gives more experience and
up to 8 gold coins. It is still relatively easy to kill from about level 3. However, Spiders nearly always live in a group,
so beware! When you find one, there will probably be more nearby. A good tactic is to stand in a narrow passage so that the
spiders can only attack one or two at a time.

Wolf |

Meat
This animal is always found in a pack and is quite
quick. They are also occasionally found with other creatures. Although they are fairly easy to kill individually the player
must beware of being surrounded and trapped by a pack of wolves. Even a higher-level player can be killed if surrounded by
a pack of wolves, unless he is wearing good equipment. Do not attack wolves unless you possess Leather Armour (preferably
better), a Shield and a weapon better than the newbie Club. The best strategy is to initially hunt wolves with a group of
friends, so that no one player faces too much damage. A good alternative for the lone hunter is to stand in the trees so that
only one or two wolves at a time can attack you.

Bug |

0-8gp, Cherry
The Bug is a weak monster. The only strength it
has is the fact that it is nearly always found in a group. Also, unlike the earlier animals this one continues to attack even
when badly wounded. Remember, one bug is easy to kill, but 5 may be deadly.

Troll |

0-10 gp, Leather Boots, Leather Helmet, Wooden Shield, Spear, Hand Axe, Rope, Meat, silver amulet, ?
Trolls are the first of the 'human-like' monsters
you will meet. They contain many items of loot, most of which can be sold for gold. You will also occasionally find the first
of the so-called 'rare' items on this monster - a Bronze Amulet. Although no NPC trades in Bronze Amulets, you may find another
player who will pay quite a lot of money for one. It is not recommended that you fight a Troll unless you are equipped with
Armour, Helmet and Shield. Also, it is recommended that you use a better weapon than the Club that you started off with. It
is also recommended that you have a reasonable weapons skill level too. Wait until at least level 4 before attacking Trolls,
unless you have very good equipment and skills. Be careful because Trolls usually come in a group and they will try to surround
you. Make use of tunnel walls to prevent more than one Troll attacking at a time.

Bear |

0-2 Ham, 0-4 Meat
This animal is another good source of food. Unlike
the earlier animals, however, they are strong and the player should be careful when first attacking a Bear because they can
quickly kill a player with poor equipment. However, the bear is slow moving and you should be able to easily out-run him if
you are heavily wounded. They are not usually found in large groups. It is easiest to kill a bear by using a distance weapon.
The Bear is a good animal for training your distance skills on. To kill one hand-to-hand you must have good equipment (preferably
at least studded armour and helmet), a shield with good shielding skills and a good weapon, such as a sword or a mace.

They are just as strong as trolls, except for the
fact that they toss small stones from a screen away. The stones usually do 1-19, or in rare cases (or just bad luck) you might
get hit for 30 damage, max. They drop much better loot than trolls, so the extra danger is worth the risk.

Poison Spider |

1-10gp
This animal is slightly more powerful than a normal
Spider. Like a Snake it will poison the poorly equipped player. They are normally found in large groups and will try to
surround the player. A group of Poison Spiders will quickly kill the poorly equipped player, or the player with a poor shielding
skill. It is suggested that you position yourself to prevent this surrounding tactic so that you can kill the spiders one-by-one.
They are a good training animal for raising skills and also a good source of experience, but beware of the effects of their
poison if you are poorly equipped.

This animal is very fast and can usually be found
in a group. It is nearly impossible to run away from them when they start after you. Be careful not to get trapped by several
Wasps at the same time. Like the Snake they can poison you, and seem to have a greater chance of doing so. Wasps have a very
weak defence and are easily killed.

Orc |

0-12 gp, Studded Armor, Studded Helmet, Studded Shield, Sabre, Axe, Meat, ?
Orcs are one of the oldest races of Tibia. They
are stronger, faster and more intelligent than Trolls are. Do not attack an Orc unless you can easily kill a Troll. However,
they are not usually found alone and the player must beware being surrounded. Just like Trolls, Orcs are a good source of
loot. The equipment they carry (studded armour, helmet and shield) is good for beginners to use. The weapons can be sold to
NPCs for gold. It is best if you initially hunt Orcs with a group of friends, and make use of the cave walls, tunnels, etc
to prevent yourself from being surrounded by a group of Orcs.

This monster is probably the first of the 'undead'
creatures that the player will encounter. They are usually found in a group and are a hand-to-hand fighter. Like many other
types of monster they usually come in a group and try to lure the hero into attacking one of them so that the rest can surround
him. Distance weapons are not usually necessary to kill this monster. If you have good armour and a good weapon you should
be able to destroy a skeleton in hand-to-hand combat.

This is the distance fighting orc. Their spears
can cause plenty of damage to the poorly defended player, but they are very poorly equipped to deal with melee fights. They
are usually accompanied by other types of Orc so that they can hide behind them throwing their spears at you. A fighter with
good shielding can quickly close the gap and kill them in hand-to-hand fighting. Beware if they are protected by other Orcs,
because they can cause damage while you deal with the other Orc.

This monster is good for training with because
it is quite strong. It also gives a good amount of experience points for a monster that is fairly straightforward for the
well-equipped player to deal with. This is another good source of loot, especially for the Rookgaard player. Unless
you are a very strong player always attack Minotaurs in the defensive mode, and avoid attacking more than one at a time. Position
yourself so that they can only attack you one-at-a-time. Be aware that a Minotaur will continue attacking until dead. It will
not run away once you have heavily wounded it. Minotaurs cannot move objects so it is recommended that the distance fighter
hide behind something before shooting a Minotaur.

This monster is strong and usually found in large
concentrations. The player should beware if they attack in a group because they will quickly kill the unprotected player. Before
you attack a Rotworm make sure that you have an escape route planned for if things go wrong. Also make sure that this escape
route is not blocked. The use of distance weapons against Rotworms is not recommended due to the heavy damage that the unshielded
player will incur.
